Mr. Bernard Okpattah

Mr. Opkattah is a founding member of the Sustainable Impact Research Initiative (SiRi) and serves as Director in charge of Research, Training and Entrepreneurship. He brings a wealth of experience to the role from his background as technology consultant, research and academic.

Mr. Okpattah is an established Information Systems and Technology (IST) practitioner and researcher with over twelve years working experience in industry and academia. He served in several professional capacities in industry, eventually exiting as Acting Head of ICT at Accra Technical University. He has since joined the Computer Science faculty at Lancaster University Ghana as lecturer on the TAG-LUG foundation programme and also holds adjunct academic position at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology; master’s degree in Information Technology from the Open University Malaysia and master’s degree in Ministry from the Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon – Ghana. His thesis titled “Information Systems Strategy: Implications for IS Maturity and Firm Performance in Organisations in Ghana” won the award for Best Master’s Research in Computing Science in 2014. Thus, his research seeks to improve the role of information systems and technology in organizations and society, particularly in emerging markets. His current works explore the relevance of strategy for successful IS implementation and business analytics as a source of competitive advantage in emerging economies. He has also distinguished himself at the use of structural equations modelling (SEM) approach for testing theoretical models and conducted training and seminars for both academics and students. He has published widely including top ranking journals in Elsevier, Francis & Taylor and Emerald as well as presented his research work at several regional and international conferences.

Mr. Okpattah brings to the team a blend of professional and technical expertise drawn from working with diverse public, private sector and the international community. He provides all the IT support services for SiRi including development and management of the corporate website and emails, digitized operations management solution. His demonstration of competency gives confidence to the team to render any kind of IT services to clients without fear of failure.
